Day 2 – Welsh Highland Railway & Portmeirion
From your base in Porthmadog, catch a mid-morning excursion through the lower Glaslyn Valley onboard the Welsh Highland steam train on a ten mile round trip, meandering the River Glaslyn, across reclaimed pastures to Hafod y Llyn.
After lunch, spend the afternoon exploring the splendid Italianate village of Portmeirion. Designed and built in the style of a typical Italian fishing village by welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, with its secret gardens, derelict castles, Mediterranean piazza and Terracotta roofed houses painted in bright colours.
