The historic Ffestiniog Railway has been given the honour of carrying the Olympic Flame in 2012, with the torch set to make tracks from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog on 28 May. Take a trip aboard this painstakingly-restored heritage line – and soak up the spectacular scenery of Snowdonia – before the hordes with rail specialist Ffestiniog Travel. It offers bespoke short break packages this autumn that include tickets for travel on the Ffestiniog Railway (runs Weds and Thurs in the autumn). Prices start at just £72 pp (two sharing) for a one-night stay in Porthmadog including B&B and return third class travel.
