We have produced a Tailored Rail tour that follows Portillo and combines some of Alaska's most famous attractions including Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks. Travel the entire Alaska Railroad and sit back to enjoy the amazing scenery along this coastal and interior route. There’s also a chance to see Alaska’s ‘Big Five’ – bears, moose, wolves, caribou and Dall sheep.
Amsterdam Direct
Amsterdam is the perfect location for a European short break, and now thanks to the introduction of the new direct Eurostar service the Dutch capital is closer than you think. Explore the city’s elaborate canal system and artistic heritage on this short 3-night break and enjoy a journey back in time on the Hoorn to Medemblik Railway and a visit to the Netherland’s National Railway Museum.
Ancona & Switzerland by Car & Train
We created Tailored Rail travel arrangements for a couple who wanted to explore the Ancona region of Italy by car and explore the Swiss Alps by rail. The Swiss part of the trip included journeys on both the Glacier and Bernina Express trains. Ffestiniog Travel arranged all travel, accommodation in Switzerland and supplied Swiss Travel Passes for unlimited travel on public transport including trains, trams and postbuses.
Athens to Thessaloniki
Series 4, Episode 4, Great Continental Rail Journeys. We again follow in the footsteps of Michael Portillo as he embarks on a Greek odyssey from the Athens's port of Piraeus travelling north to the city of Thessaloniki. Visit the Corinth Canal where Michael found out about the surprisingly ancient origins of the modern railway. This journey also includes one of the narrowest gauge railways in the world, the Little Train of Pelion.

Barcelona to Mallorca
Series 4, Episode 6, Great Continental Rail Journeys. In this final episode in this series Michael Portillo continues to be steered by his 1913 Bradshaw's Guide and returns to Spain to trace the early 20th Century roots of the Spanish Civil War, which divided his own Spanish family and sent his father into exile. A special dispensation to fly to the Balearic island of Mallorca allows Michael to experience spectacular scenic rides aboard a sublime 1912 vintage railway and a 1913 tram.
