Meet the Travel team

Our long-standing customers will be familiar with Alan, who founded the company 50 years ago in 1974.  Alan was instrumental in researching and creating many of our rail holidays. More recently as a director of the Ffestiniog Travel Board he has developed our Small & Traditional tour range which began in 2009 when he escorted his first tour to Romania.

General Manager who joined the company in 1997 and has gained wide expertise in all areas of rail travel to destinations around the world - her favourite tour is one of our most popular rail holidays, Indian Hill Railways.

Michelle joined Ffestiniog Travel in 2011 and is now Travel Manager. She enjoys using her skills to create bespoke Tailored Rail holidays as well as planning escorted itineraries - her favourite escorted tour is Best of Colorado.

Recruited in 2002, Dan is the company’s European Ticketing Supervisor and has specialist knowledge of railway networks around the world.  He manages the Ticket Only department, but also leads escorted tours too, his favourite being Uzbekistan.

Senior Travel Consultant who joined the company in 2013, with responsibility for administrating numerous escorted tours and Tailored Rail holidays. Her top rail journey is The Ghan train from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia.

Having joined Ffestiniog Travel in 2015 as UK Rail Ticketing Consultant, Awel now holds the position of Tailored and Escorted Tours Consultant. A journey on the Bernina Express in Switzerland remains a firm favourite. Awel is currently on maternity leave expecting twins!

Josh joined the company in 2018 as a Travel Consultant and works on various destinations and tour itineraries. His standout rail journey was on the gravity defying Breinzer Rothorn cog railway in Switzerland.

Tracy joined the team in 2023 and is a Tailored and Escorted Tours Consultant who has over 30 years of working in the travel industry. Her favourite destination is Quebec City, Canada and favourite rail journey is either Montreal to Quebec City or more locally, the line between Porthmadog and Aberystwyth on the Cambrian Coast.

Helen joined Ffestiniog Travel in 2023 as a Travel Consultant covering Awel’s Maternity Leave. Her role is primarily administration however she will also cover tailored rail enquiries. Helen has gained lots of experience from her personal travels and her favourite rail journey to date is in rural Goa, India.
