Meet the Travel team

Many of you will be familiar with Ffestiniog Travel’s team members, having liaised with them when planning and booking your rail holidays and train journeys with us. Some have been with the company for many years and have benefitted from its in-house training opportunities and moved up the ranks to take on more travel responsibilities – an indication of their growing expertise and continued dedication to Ffestiniog Travel and its customers.

Alan Heywood

Alan HeywoodOur long-standing customers will be familiar with Alan, who founded the company 50 years ago in 1974.  Alan was instrumental in researching and creating many of our rail holidays. More recently as a director of the Ffestiniog Travel Board he has developed our Small & Traditional tour range which began in 2009 when he escorted his first tour to Romania.

 

Maria Cook

Maria CookGeneral Manager who joined the company in 1997 and has gained wide expertise in all areas of rail travel to destinations around the world - her favourite tour is one of our most popular rail holidays, Indian Hill Railways.

 

Michelle Hawes

Michelle HawesMichelle joined Ffestiniog Travel in 2011 and is now Travel Manager. She enjoys using her skills to create bespoke Tailored Rail holidays as well as planning escorted itineraries - her favourite escorted tour is Best of Colorado.

 

Dan May

Dan MayRecruited in 2002, Dan is the company’s European Ticketing Supervisor and has specialist knowledge of railway networks around the world.  He manages the Ticket Only department, but also leads escorted tours too, his favourite being Uzbekistan.

 

Kate Berry

Kate BerrySenior Travel Consultant who joined the company in 2013, with responsibility for administrating numerous escorted tours and Tailored Rail holidays. Her top rail journey is The Ghan train from Darwin to Adelaide in Australia.
