Journey across Australia and New Zealand through awe inspiring landscapes on some of the world’s most famous and iconic trains. Discover the charm of the cities, the beauty of the scenery and the vibrancy of two modern Asian destinations, Singapore and Hong Kong. This is a journey that would fulfil ‘holiday of a lifetime’ aspirations.


Day 1 – London to Singapore

Overnight flight to Singapore, arriving the following morning. 

Day 2 – Singapore City Sightseeing

Enjoy getting to know Singapore on a half-day sightseeing tour of this vibrant city with a local guide who will take us to the popular sightseeing landmarks.

Day 3 – Singapore to Darwin

Free time in Singapore for some independent sightseeing or shopping before we take an evening flight to Darwin, arriving early hours of the morning.

Day 4 – Relax in Darwin

After a late night, today is free to relax in Darwin and acclimatise to its tropical atmosphere and perhaps take in the city at one of the many street-side restaurants or visit some of the museums and galleries to learn about its past and rich, indigenous culture.

Day 5 – The Ghan

We board the iconic Ghan train to take an epic 2,979km journey across Australia’s Red Centre from Darwin to Adelaide. Accommodation is in gold service cabins with all meals included.

Day 6 – Alice Springs

We arrive in Alice Springs this morning where optional sightseeing tours will be on offer. This iconic outback city is the heart and soul of central Australia, rich in history and culture.

Day 7 – Adelaide

On reaching our final destination Adelaide, Australia's fifth largest city, you will have a free day to independently explore this charming city. Wander down the grand tree-lined North Terrace boulevard which boasts Adelaide's most imposing buildings. At the east end of North Terrace is the city's Botanical Gardens, established in 1855 and home to some wonderful botanical treasures. You may wish to visit one of the city's museums or simply wander through its Central Market - one of the oldest indoor markets in the world, established in 1870.

Day 8 – Melbourne

Departing Adelaide we fly to the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne where we have a 2-night stay. Agreat way to explore the city is via its free City Circle Tram which covers all the essential sightseeing stops and provides a great introduction to this wonderful city.

Day 9 – Puffing Billy

We have a day’s excursion on the fabulous Puffing Billy Steam Railway, a scenic journey that travels from Belgrave through the Dandenong Ranges to Gembrook and return.

Day 10 – XPT to Sydney

We depart Melbourne on board Country Link’s XPT service to Sydney. Travelling in first class, sit back, relax and watch the beautiful scenery go by. We arrive in Sydney early evening.

Days 11 & 12 – At Leisure in Sydney

We have two days at leisure in Sydney. There is plenty to see and do here and your tour leader will be on hand to assist with arranging your excursions. Spend time at Sydney Harbour and take in the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and nearby Botannical Gardens.  Take a ferry ride to capture some great photos of the Sydney waterfront.  Cicular Quays is a great stop for lunch and Darling Harbour for dinner! 

Day 13 – To New Zealand

Leaving Australia behind, we fly from Sydney to Auckland and transfer to our hotel for a 2-night stay.

Day 14 – At Leisure in Auckland

We have a free day to explore New Zealand’s largest city, beautifully situated between two harbours. You can enjoy 360 degree views from the iconic Sky Tower or wander up the city's tallest natural point Mt. Eden, a dormant volcano, that delivers great views. It is a great city to walk around with a free art gallery and museum.

Day 15 – Auckland to Rotorua

A leisurely morning before we depart by coach to Rotorua, a journey that provides a taste of this scenic region of New Zealand's North Island.

Day 16 – Famous Geysers and Glow Worms

A day that takes in two of New Zealand's natural phenomenons.  First we explore the thermal areas around Rotorua to see the famous geysers and mud pools before continuing by road to Hamilton via the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. The glow worm, Arachnocampa luminosa, is unique to New Zealand and t​housands of these tiny creatures radiate their unmistakable luminescent light in these caves.

Day 17 – Northern Explorer Train

We board the Northern Explorer train and head for the capital city of Wellington through the Tongariro National Park, New Zealand's oldest national park that holds dual UNESCO World Heritage status for culture and nature.

Day 18 – Interislander Ferry

A spectacular day travelling from North to South Island and to our destination Christchurch using the Interislander ferry, described as one of the world's most scenic ferry journeys, and the Coastal Pacific  train which delivers some amazing scenery. (This journey is subject to the train being operational at the time of our visit, if not we will travel by coach).

Day 19 – TranzAlpine Train

The TranzAlpine is considered one of the world’s most scenic railway journeys. Take in the South Island’s stunning mountains and the vast Canterbury Plains aboard New Zealand’s finest inland rail journey.Today we take a return journey from coast to coast.

Day 20 – Explore Christchurch

A chance to explore Christchurch which has undergone major reconstruction following the disastrous earthquake in 2011. A great way to see the sights is by tram which takes in a host of city highlights including Cathedral Square and New Regent Street.

Day 21 – New Zealand to Hong Kong

Fly Christchurch to Hong Kong via Australia.

Day 22 – Hong Kong Sightseeing

We have a half day tour with a local guide to experience some of Hong Kong's standout landmarks and the afternoon is free to relax, shop or explore further.

Days 23  – Hong Kong to London

A leisurely morning before we transfer to the airport for our flight home. We arrive in London this evening.
