Brussels – Fairytale Streets, Modern Shopping and Cultural Charm (RRS004)

From 3 days

Spend a weekend time-travelling in this lovely old city, which offers the ancient charms of guildhalls and galleries alongside sleek, modern bars and restaurants. Big enough to suit every taste but small enough to stroll around, Brussels is curious, creative and complex.

Paris – Enjoy the Romance, Charm and Fun of the French Capital (RRS005)

From 3 days

Whether you prefer serious sightseeing or gentle strolling, Eurostar takes you to the heart of Paris with no stress – so you’re ready to embrace the city’s charms as soon as you step off the train.

A thousand and one books have surely been written about travellers journeying from London to Paris – but the trip never becomes less enticing or romantic. There is guaranteed delight in three days exploring the French capital, and travelling by train means the journey becomes part of the pleasure. There will be time for plenty of sightseeing – the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, The Louvre and the Pompidou Centre are the big game of Paris and always rewarding – but Paris is also a city that’s perfect for wandering – find boutiques in the Latin Quarter, stroll the banks of the Seine, or take the Metro to the flea market at Porte de Clignancourt.

Lille – Discover Europe’s Hidden Jewel, where France meets Flanders (RRS008)

From 3 days

Explore the cobbled streets and medieval squares of beautiful Lille – just over an hour from London. Leave St Pancras on Friday afternoon, and spend three days exploring the fairytale charms of Lille. This magical long weekend promises lifelong memories of cobbled, medieval streets, hidden candlelit bars and pleasures of great art, in this unique corner of Europe where France and Flanders seamlessly meet.

Vienna – Take a glorious journey through the Rhine valley to Vienna, stopping off in charming Cologne and eclectic Brussels (RRS0013)

From 5 days

The Imperial beauty and modern edge of Vienna await – after a romantic journey by night train. See two of Europe's other great cities along the way, celebrating the architecture, culture and charm of Northern Europe.

In just five days, travel through Brussels and Cologne, to the heart of the old Hapsburg Empire. Vienna is a gentle waltz between the architectural wonder and historic power of the 19th Century and the ease and charm of a modern city built on the civilising tenets of music, coffee and conversation. The overnight train journey to the Austrian capital wends through the Rhine Valley passing moonlit mountains, waterfalls and lakes on the way. 3 nights in Vienna allows a full exploration of this glorious city, equally charming silhouetted by snow, or gilded by sunlight. Along the way, have dinner in Cologne and lunch in Brussels.

Lyon – Spend the Weekend in the Food Capital of France (RRS017)

From 5 days

Spend a wonderful weekend in Lyon, the food capital of France. Travel by train and stop off in Paris for a luxurious lunch, before speeding through the heart of the French countryside to arrive in Lyon just two hours later. On the way back, there’s time to see more of Paris. A weekend in Lyon is an escape into food, history and culture, in one of France’s most beautiful cities, built around the Rhone and Saone rivers that converge here. Famous for its gastronomy, Lyon is also a busy, working city, with a thriving centre full of quirky shops and bars.

Bern - Medieval Capital of Switzerland (RRS 0045)

From 3 nights

Take the train from London, change at Paris onto a super fast TGV and be in the medieval Swiss capital of Bern in just 8 hours.

Bern more closely resembles a medieval fairytale town, with its Astrological Clock Tower, bear pits (containing real brown bears, which live under the bridge, like furry trolls) and four miles of covered sandstone arcades, filled with ancient apothecaries and mirrored cafes. The twelfth-century Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, full of ramshackle charm, vintage shops and potted geraniums, the Town Hall and the towering Munster Cathedral are 15th century, while the newer areas, near the banks of the jade-green River Aare, feature grand museums, theatres, wide boulevards and cosy bars and restaurants.

Famous past residents include Albert Einstein and artist Paul Klee, both of whom have very impressive museums dedicated to their lives and works. Also, from Bern, you can easily reach the extraordinary landscape around Interlaken, such as Lake Brienz and the Jungfrau.
