Itinerary

Day 1 – To Lille

Depart on the lunchtime Eurostar from London St Pancras to Lille. Check into your hotel close to the station and the late afternoon and evening are yours to explore Place Rihour, where 90 wooden chalets teem with gift ideas, nativity figurines, Christmas decorations and festive food. You can find regional specialties here as well as arts and crafts from Russia, Canada and Poland!

Day 2 – Christmas Markets in Dunkirk

Catch the train to the coast today and enjoy the warmest of welcomes as you visit the Christmas Markets in three Dunkirk squares. Fifty stalls offer a variety of handmade gifts, Christmas decorations and delicious delicacies. There is also a Ferris wheel, magic Christmas forest with Christmas elfs, a free ice rink, and more to enjoy. We include entrance tickets to the Belfry Saint Eloi for a unique 360° view of the city of Dunkirk and its surroundings including the beaches, the port and the Flemish countryside.

Day 3 – Christmas Market in Arras and a 2CV Tour of Lille

A morning train from Lille to Arras where the Christmas Market is laid out in the magnificent setting of the Grand’Place, a Flemish Baroque architectural ensemble unrivalled in Europe. A remarkable backdrop with a forest of Christmas trees, where 140 artisans and exhibitors await you in an authentic and festive atmosphere in the heart of the town. Sample roasted chestnuts or spice bread before wandering along the wide lanes edged with market stalls, where there are crafts, jewellery, wooden toys and decorations to be discovered.
Return to Lille by train to enjoy a one hour tour in an iconic convertible Citroen 2CV with a Champagne break. Your driver will double as guide, giving you an impressive run-down of the monument-filled centre - designated France’s “City of Art and History.”

Day 4 – Amiens Christmas Market and Son-et-Lumière

Take the train to Amiens where you will find 130 chalets, stretching for over 2km, and a great choice of gift ideas. Stay overnight to enjoy a new polychromatic show, “Chroma”, which is shown at the Cathedral at 7pm every evening during the Christmas Market. It uses colour and an infinite palette of nuances to trace the history of the Cathedral. The Gothic architecture lends itself to strange optical illusions whilst the music adds emotion to the experience.

Day 5 – Homeward Bound

A lunchtime train to Lille connects with the Eurostar service to London St Pancras, arriving late afternoon.
