Tour dates:
Friday 7 April to Sunday 9 April 2017
Friday 9 June to Sunday 11 June 2017

In 2017 you will have not one but two opportunities to be a passenger on the aptly named Snowdonian train as it takes its annual 80 mile round trip through the glorious Snowdonia National Park. The journey will cover the full length of both the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railways in one day. To add more interest to this scenic journey, the Snowdonian will be hauled by a variety of motive power. Don’t leave it too late to reserve your seat as this is a popular event and places will be limited.

To get you in the mood why not read this blog by Gordon Rushton, who campaigned to get The Snowdonian train back on Welsh tracks.

ADVANCE NOTICE - 2018 Dates - Saturday 14 April 2018 and Saturday 9 June 2018 - Register your interest now.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Boston Lodge

Travel to Porthmadog (we can arrange and add rail tickets to your package). After checking into your hotel we will meet at Porthmadog Harbour Station late afternoon to travel up the line to Boston Lodge for a comprehensive 2.5 hour guided tour. This will be followed by an optional evening meal in Spooners at Harbour Station, or choose to arrange to have a meal at your hotel (where available).

Day 2 – The Snowdonian

Details of the Snowdonian itinerary are yet to be released. You are guaranteed a full day’s journey as you travel from Porthmadog to Caernarfon and Blaenau Ffestiniog. A light continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea will be included. The motive power is not confirmed, but it is likely to involve the double engine Earl of Merioneth, which is due for "retirement" soon after. The June departure is planning a nonstop trip from Porthmadog to Caernarfon hauled by a Garratt and will include a tour of Dinas workshops and a hog roast lunch.

Day 3 – Return home

Depart Porthmadog after breakfast, or why not extend your stay to make the most of the attractions in the area.
