Day 8 - Yarra Valley Wineries and Puffing Billy

You will be picked up from your hotel for this full day tour. Immerse yourself in the serene surroundings of the ancient rainforest at Grants Reserve in the Dandenongs. Breathe in the crisp mountain air as you enjoy a devonshire morning tea. Experience the thrill of feeding vibrant native birds by hand – bright crimson rosellas, noble sulphur-crested cockatoos and rosy pink-chested galahs all fill this forest with their lilting birdsong.

Continue to Belgrave and climb aboard the century-old Puffing Billy. This restored steam train chugs along its original mountain track to Menzies Creek on a picturesque, 30-minute route through the mountain ash and towering eucalyptus of Sherbrooke Forest. Dangle your legs out of the open windows as you ride over the Monbulk Creek Trestle Bridge and spot Port Phillip Bay in the distance.

In the afternoon, join a series of guided wine tastings in the renowned Yarra Valley. Sip earthy Pinot Noir at Rochford, and visit another two leading wineries for wine tasting, appreciation and education. Of the many wineries in the area, you may visit estates such as Dominique Portet. Experience cellar-door tastings of their award-winning selections of Australian wine.

A free day to explore Australia's fifth largest city. Wander down the grand tree-lined North Terrace boulevard which boasts Adelaide's most imposing buildings. At the east end of North Terrace is the city's Botanical Gardens, established in 1855 and home to some wonderful botanical treasures. You may wish to visit one of the city's museums or simply wander through its Central Market - one of the oldest indoor markets in the world, established in 1870.
