Switzerland is famous for its breath-taking mountains and lakes and this tour will ensure you experience them first hand on scenic rail journeys and with use of your Swiss Pass. Sightseeing tours and visits can be arranged in advance.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Early departure from London on Eurostar to Paris, followed by TGV to Basle to connect to a local service to Interlaken.

Days 2 & 3

Free days based in Interlaken with the Swiss Pass. The pass allows unlimited travel on trains, postbuses lake steamers and many city buses. We provide a comprehensive excursions booklet with lots of ideas of things to do from various centres. Interlaken is close to the metre gauge lines of the Jungfrau region as well as the lake steamers on lakes Brienz and Thun.

Day 4

Transfer by train to Lucerne. Afternoon free.

Days 5 & 6

Free days in Lucerne. As well as the lake steamers you are close to the famous Pilatus railway, the world's steepest cog railway. Lucerne is the home of the Transport Museum.

Day 7

Depart by train, via Zurich to Chur, the capital of Graubünden.

Day 8

Free day allowing you to explore Chur and the surrounding area using the UNESCO World Heritage Rhaetian Railways network. Resorts such as Arosa, Davos and Klosters are all within easy reach.

Day 9

Full day excursion from Chur to Tirano and return using the Bernina Express.

Day 10

Transfer from Chur to Brig using the world famous Glacier Express.

Days 11 & 12

Free days based in Brig. The car free resort of Zermatt is easily reached. And, if the weather is fine, it is worth continuing on the mountain train to Gornergrat summit for panoramic views. Also from Brig it is possible to take a trip on the Furka steam train (subject to dates and availability).

Day 13

Mid-morning train from Brig to Lausanne, on the shore of Lake Geneva.

Day 14

Free day based in Lausanne.

Day 15

Leave after breakfast on TGV service to Paris, connecting with Eurostar to London.
